Argentavis magnificens

Description

My second reconstruction of the gigantic Miocene teratorn, Argentavis magnificens, gliding on thermals over steep, grassy hills. I modeled the overall wing and body shape after the condor, as not a great deal of the postcranial skeleton has been recovered. Not much of the skull has been found either, so I read up on what is known and paid homage to my first reconstruction by adding more feathers to the head and neck area. That being said, the head is too small for any great level of detail.

This is my second attempt to draw using photoshop. I intended it to be a speedpaint, which is why the drawing itself is so small, but I was enjoying playing around with textures so I took more care with details. I also don't own a tablet, so using my mouse slowed things down somewhat, making it a....slowpaint (:P).
